Zaragoza will once again walk for a cause that is taking up more and more space in the public conversation. Next Sunday, September 6, the Parque Grande José Antonio Labordeta will host «Zaragoza: a step + for mental health», a day open to the public that will combine exercise, meetings, workshops and talks to make visible the importance of emotional well-being.
The activity will start at 9:00 a.m. with an inaugural walk of 1.8 kilometers through the Parque Grande, planned as a simple route. Afterwards, the programme will continue throughout the morning with proposals for different ages and audiences, from mindfulness, tai chi, pilates or yoga to workshops on anxiety, suicide prevention and emotional management.
The initiative is part of the activities that Zaragoza develops during 2026 after its adhesion to the European Network of Cities for Mental Health, promoted by the Mental Health Federation Aragón. The conference is organized by the Zaragoza City Council and also has the collaboration of the Government of Aragon and different entities in the social field.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
After the hike it will be time to choose between relaxing, moving or participating in one of the workshops. Space 2, located on the lawn, will concentrate the most physical proposals. The first will begin at 10.15 am with Mindfulness in nature, an ADCARA experience aimed at young people between 14 and 30 years old that will combine conscious breathing and gentle movement.
The morning will continue with more dynamic proposals. At 11.00 and 12.30 pm, ADCARA and ASAPME will organise storytelling, games with ball and parachute and relaxing storytelling on the pitch. Between both sessions, at 11.45 am, there will be tai chi and express pilates, while the physical programme will close at 1.15 pm with a yoga and stretching practice.
DEBATES AND WORKSHOPS
Those who prefer to stop and listen, learn and share experiences can come to Space 3, dedicated to debates and workshops. There, the activity will also start at 10.15 am with an ADCARA session on suicide prevention in adolescents, especially aimed at families and focused on how to detect warning signs and strengthen emotional bonds.
At 11:00 a.m. it will be the turn of La Mochila Emocional, a proposal by the Professional College of Psychology of Aragon (COPPA) to address complex emotions during the transition to motherhood and fatherhood. Shortly after, at 11.45 am, specialised professionals from the school itself will give a session on the prevention of suicidal and self-injurious behaviour.
The final stretch of the morning will include, at 12.30 p.m., the activity Sensitive to a Mentally Healthy Life, by F. Rey Ardid, which will bring healthy habits and prevention keys through games and movement. At 1:15 p.m. the last workshop will arrive, dedicated to techniques to manage anxiety, with tools to cope with daily stress and learn to reduce emotional activation.
And for those looking for a different proposal, during the morning there will also be a themed escape room on mental health, coordinated by CMAPA and CMPS, which will take place in parallel to the rest of the activities in 40-minute passes.
