Job stability continues to be one of the pending tasks for a large part of the auxiliary nursing care technicians (TCAE) who work in the Aragonese health system. 56.7% of the staff accounted for are temporary or temporary staff, compared to 43.3% who have a permanent relationship. This is the conclusion of the report «Situation of Technical Staff in Auxiliary Nursing Care in Spain«, published by the Ministry of Sanidad.
In total, of the 5,203 Aragonese professionals registered in 2025, 2,253 are permanent and 2,950 appear as interim or temporary. In other words, there are 697 more TCAEs with a temporary and interim contract than with a permanent contract.
Most of the Aragonese CADs work in Specialised Care. In this area, there are 5,082 professionals, of which 2,195 are permanent, 1,611 temporary and 1,276 temporary. Overall, 2,887 (56.8%) are not listed as permanent staff, a figure higher than that of workers with a stable relationship.
The presence of these professionals is much lower in Primary Care. Along these lines, Aragón counts 121 TCAEs in health centres: 58 permanent, 34 interim and 29 temporary. Thus, 63 of the 121 professionals are in a temporary or interim situation. Again, only 48% of the staff has a permanent contract.
36.2-HOUR DAYS AND SALARIES OF JUST OVER 1,500 EUROS
The report of the Ministry of Health also reveals the conditions of the Aragonese TCAE also present differences with respect to other communities. In Aragon, the weekly working day is 36.2 hours, above the 35 hours that are applied in much of the National Health System. In the day shift, the calculation reaches 1,575 hours per year, while in a rotating shift with 42 effective nights it is reduced to 1,456 hours and in the night shift it remains at 1,400 hours per year. The staff also has 22 working days of vacation and eight days of private business.
In terms of salary, the TCAE of Aragon receive a fixed monthly remuneration of 1,543.20 euros gross if they work in hospitalization and 1,504.13 euros in Primary Care. These are reference amounts that include the basic salary and fixed supplements, but do not add seniority, extraordinary payments or other bonuses that can make the final salary higher.
The differences between communities are important. In Aragon, the fixed salary is around 1,500 euros per month, while in Navarre it reaches 1,912.22 euros and in the Balearic Islands 1,724.06 euros. The Ministry explains that this gap is due, above all, to the different salary supplements applied by each regional health service.
