The PSOE calls for updating the laws that regulate before, during and after fires. Its deputy in the Cortes of Aragón, Lorena Canales, has presented a PNL in which she urges the regional executive to grant direct aid to the self-employed, SMEs and farmers in the affected areas, or to integrate the municipalities and regions in the operations, among other measures.
The socialist has denounced that this summer in which Aragon has been devastated by fires «everything has not worked well», as reflected, according to her vision, in the recent demonstration in Jaca. In this regard, he has criticized that the PP local qualified it as «political».
«The demonstrations are not political, they are of the citizens who are telling the politicians that something will not have been done well. That is evident when we have the problem we have in our mountains. Therefore, what we say to Azcón and Vox is that we must listen to the citizens and not mess with them when they go out peacefully to defend their mountains,» he said.
A PACKAGE OF LEGISLATIVE CHANGES
Among the different proposals, there is direct non-refundable aid for the self-employed, SMEs and farmers affected by the fires. Canales gave the example of the «baker of the people» who has had to close for 15 days: «Someone has to replace all those losses, we have to be next to our small businesses».
They also call for redoubling efforts in the area of prevention. «We have to make some initial interventions in the most vulnerable municipalities where there is more forest mass, fire self-protection plans and security perimeters,» proposed the deputy. However, he regretted that the «management of the forest mass is in the hands of Vox, which denies climate change».
In addition, this proposal proposes to integrate municipalities, regions and farmers in extinguishing operations so that they are protected and so that there is greater coordination: «They have been seen that they are essential to undertake and to be able to stop the advance of the fire«.
Finally, Lorena Canales reflected that «PP and Vox have to decide if they are going to continue, as they have done so far, reflecting with self-complacency or they are going to have to take concrete and serious measures«. He argues that certain aspects have failed, such as «professionals who have been subjected to absolutely exhausting hours».
