The Aragonese Pyrenees will attract all eyes of world trail running with the Canfranc-Canfranc competition. In this 20th edition, the sporting event will bring together more than 1,500 runners from September 11 to 13. The event continues to consolidate its position as one of the great international references of the sport.
The organization reaches its maximum intensity during the two weeks before and after the celebration of the tests. To prepare the refreshment points, about 500 people will distribute 2,000 kilos of food and 8,000 liters of drink in some of the most inaccessible corners of the Pyrenees.
AN AMBITIOUS JOURNEY
The participants come from 13 countries, including Spain, and from 46 Spanish provinces, practically the entire national territory. The LongDistance 26K will be the modality with the highest number of entries, with 550 runners.
One of the chapters that best reflects the magnitude of the Canfranc-Canfranc is that of the refreshment stations. The organization installs 13 supply points distributed along the different routes and mobilizes approximately 2,000 kilos of food. In them, the runners will find fruit, nuts, sausages, cheese, chocolate, sweets and pasta.
THE TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS
The other great pillar of the event is its human team. This year around 350 volunteers will participate. If the organization, the technical staff, the health personnel, the security, timing and communications teams, as well as the rest of the professionals involved, are added, the device reaches approximately 500 people.
The medical deployment includes about 25 professionals, three ambulances and an advanced medical post. Added to this is the work of volunteers and broom teams, who, in addition to accompanying the development of the tests, subsequently review the routes to remove any waste or element that may have been left on the mountain.
