[EN] This is how Zaragoza City Council’s fleet of vehicles will change: 18 new electric models

The Zaragoza City Council will renew part of its municipal fleet with 18 new 100% electric vehicles thanks to a grant of 126,000 euros from the Moves III program. The incorporation includes 14 cars and four vans that can be used in different municipal areas. The operation also includes the scrapping of 17 old vehicles.

Most of the renovation will be carried out through leasing, with 17 vehicles for an amount of 119,000 euros, while another will be acquired directly, with European funding of 7,000 euros. The Minister of Finance and European Funds, Blanca Solans, stressed that it is the first time that Zaragoza has managed to enter this program and thanked the collaboration of the Government of Aragon to make the action possible.

PROGRESS TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY

Solans has defended that the incorporation of these vehicles will allow progress in the electrification of the municipal fleet and will contribute to reducing emissions and urban noise. «With sustainable mobility, the electrification of our municipal fleet is achieved, emissions are reduced, it contributes to having better air quality,» he said.

The Minister has placed this action within Zaragoza’s strategy to achieve climate neutrality and recalled that the city has been part of the European Mission of Climate Neutral Cities since 2022. She has also linked this new boost to sustainable mobility with Zaragoza’s candidacy for European Green Capital 2028, for which the Aragonese capital is one of the five finalists.

The Moves III aid is in addition to the 1.3 million euros raised during August for energy efficiency actions in municipal facilities. Solans highlighted the pace of execution of European funds and assured that Zaragoza has executed around 114 million of the 121 million planned for 2026.
