The Real Zaragoza already has the centre-back they were looking for. According to several Valencian media reports, Rubén Iranzo will become a white player in the next few hours after Valencia have given the green light to his departure so that the footballer can become a new member of the squad led by Ibai Gómez.
In this way, the 23-year-old defender will end his time at the Mestalla club to start a new adventure as a player at Real Zaragoza. Of course, the agreement between the two clubs includes that the team will keep 25% of the player’s economic rights, in addition to a right of first refusal for the future.
Iranzo, a native of Picanya and trained in the Valencian youth categories, can act both in the centre of defence and at right-back, although, as Lalo Arantegui confirmed this past Thursday, the idea is that he arrives to act only in an axis of the defence that is decimated after the scare that Diego González starred in the friendly against Bilbao Athletic who is doubtful for the first match against Bilbao Athletic. Nastic.
In this way, his arrival is a new step in the configuration of the Real Zaragoza squad that is now working on reinforcing a right-back where they only have Gabilondo. With the start of the competition just around the corner, Ibai Gómez will be able to count on a new alternative for his defensive line that could even have his first minutes in Real Zaragoza’s debut in Tarragona.

HIS CAREER IN VALENCIA
Rubén Iranzo has been part of Valencia throughout his formative years. The defender arrived in the youngest stage in the ranks of the club and has been climbing through the different levels until he was captain of the reserve team and debuted with the first team. Although his official debut with the first team was in the 2021-2022 season with José Bordalás on the bench, he has never settled down and has been on the back foot with the reserve team. In total, Iranzo has played twelve games with the first team in the last five seasons in which he has managed to score one goal.
With Valencia Mestalla it has been a totally different situation. The defender has acted as captain and as one of the references within the reserve team where he has been an undisputed starter when he has not been called up by the first team in these last five years in the Second RFEF. In addition, he has international experience with Spain’s youth teams, having been part of the national team’s call-ups from the U-16 to the U-19 teams.
