The Government of Aragón has decreed a series of security measures in the area affected by the fire in the Peñas de Riglos that began on August 10. In the area, the Special Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fire Emergencies (PROCINFO) remains activated, in the Emergency phase, Operational Situation 2 and Civil Protection Level 2.
The Director of the Plan, the Minister of Finance, Interior and Public Administration, Roberto Bermúdez de Castro, has agreed to temporarily prohibit access to the area affected by the forest fire to anyone unrelated to the surveillance, management and extinguishing work. The decision is taken to guarantee safety and avoid the risk of accidents for citizens who do not belong to the teams working on extinguishing the fire.
The restriction affects access through roads and trails and will remain in place until the declaration of extinction of the fire. The aim is to make the work of the extinguishing teams easier.
The decree maintains traffic restrictions on several roads that run through the interior and adjacent areas of a fire whose perimeter stands at 18,400 hectares, although satellite measurements determine that the burned area within that perimeter is 14,500. The limitations will remain in force until the Advanced Command Post (PMA) verifies that the roads meet the necessary safety conditions for their opening to traffic without restrictions.
THE AFFECTED ROADS ARE:
– A-1205: from kilometre point 0, in the municipality of Jaca, to kilometre point 41, in Las Peñas de Riglos.
– A-132: from kilometre point 38.8, in Murillo de Gállego, to kilometre point 70.8, in Puente la Reina de Jaca.
– N-240: from kilometre point 287.9, in Jaca, to kilometre point 303, in Puente la Reina de Jaca.
– A-1603: from kilometre point 0 to kilometre point 10, in Jaca, including the accesses to the Monastery of San Juan de la Peña.
– A-2602: at kilometre point 0, at the access to Bailo from the junction with the A-132.
– HU-V-3001: from kilometre point 0 to kilometre point 9, in Las Peñas de Riglos, including access to Rasal from the A-1205.
– HU-V-3003: from kilometre point 15.5, in Caldearenas, to kilometre 23, in Jaca, corresponding to the access to Javierrelatre from the A-1205.
– Local road HF0262BA: from kilometre point 0 to kilometre 4, in Jaca, corresponding to the access to Atarés from the N-240.
ACCESS WHEN CONTROLLED
Once the fire is declared under control, access to the affected area will be allowed to those people whose movement is essential for the needs of agricultural and livestock farms. Access will also be allowed to the necessary personnel to carry out the actions aimed at the restoration of essential public services.
The Government of Aragon has also arranged for these measures to be disseminated through the public channels and social networks of the municipalities in the affected area, as well as through the media, with the aim of ensuring that the population is aware of the restrictions in force.
