Zaragoza joins the rallies that will take place next Wednesday, September 2, throughout the country against the situation that is being experienced in Ceuta. This has been announced by the mayor of the city, Natalia Chueca, through her social networks, stressing that in this way they want to «show all our support and our solidarity» to the residents of Ceuta, «to defend them and to tell them that we are with them».

The mayor has denounced that the residents of Ceuta «do not deserve the situation of abandonment they are experiencing by the Sánchez Government», which has not attended to them for almost a month. Thus, through this initiative, organized by the platform «Por Ceuta», they want to let them know that «the rest of España and, of course, Zaragoza, is with all of them and we are going to support them in everything they need». The rally will be at 8:00 p.m. at the gates of the Zaragoza City Council, in the Plaza del Pilar, and will coincide with Ceuta Day.
A CITIZEN INITIATIVE
The «Por Ceuta» platform was born as a citizen, transversal and independent initiative, without political affiliation, with the aim of demanding the recovery of normality in the autonomous city and channeling the support of the rest of Spain. Its promoter is Carlos Delgado, born in Cádiz but adopted from Ceuta, who launched this space to bring together citizens, groups and entities willing to support Ceuta.
The initiative came after the events at the border on July 30 and 31, when tens of thousands of people irregularly entered a city of around 80,000 inhabitants. According to estimates collected by the platform itself, between 7,000 and 10,000 people still remain in Ceuta.
Among its demands, «Por Ceuta» calls for a greater response from the administrations, more resources for the city and the recovery of public spaces and economic activity, in addition to the return to their countries of origin of those who have arrived irregularly, except in those cases that require protection. The platform has also promoted a manifesto that already exceeds 65,000 adhesions and that it plans to deliver on September 2 to political groups and national and international organizations.
CONCENTRATIONS IN 72 LOCALITIES THROUGHOUT SPAIN
The mobilization called for next Wednesday, coinciding with Ceuta Day, has already spread throughout much of the national territory. As of Wednesday, the platform counts concentrations in 72 Spanish towns, proposed as civic and peaceful acts to show support for the residents of the autonomous city.
The call seeks to transfer the demands of the platform outside Ceuta and make visible a situation that, according to its promoters, continues without a sufficient response from the administrations. The rallies will be held simultaneously in numerous parts of the country and aim to turn September 2 into a day of collective support for the city.
Zaragoza will be one of those 72 towns and will hold its rally at 8:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Pilar, in front of the City Hall. The call has the support of the municipal government and the mayor Natalia Chueca, who has called on the people of Zaragoza to join in to transfer their support and solidarity to the residents of Ceuta.
